Sheridan Grande

JOB NAME:
Sheridan Grande
LOCATION:
Chicago, IL
ARCHITECT:
DeStefano & Partners, Ltd.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Sheridan Grande is an eight-story, 70 unit condominium and retail building in a transitioning neighborhood on Chicago's north side. It joins a streetscape of structures of varying height, age, and architectural style with primarily masonry exteriors executed by Illinois Masonry Corp. Acting as the base of the building, simulated stone wraps the retail level. Reveals, cut in a banded fashion accentuate this material by adding depth and shadow lines. The vertical uses of the rust orange brick, as tower-like anchors at the corners, balance the horizontal nature of the simulated stone base. This masonry envelope connects Sheridan Grande to its environment and provides it with desirable architectural and compositional qualities.

This multi-family retail building contains mixed uses of materials throughout. This large project is located in the congested downtown of Downers Grove, Il., which made it more challenging for Illinois Masonry Corp. to construct this multi-level building of prairie stone and brick.
