The Mather

JOB NAME:
The Mather
LOCATION:
Evanston, IL
ARCHITECT:
N/A
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The 11-story, 317,683 square foot cast-in-place concrete framed senior living center in Evanston Illinois was developed to serve as a continuing-care retirement community equipped with 143 apartments for independent seniors, 24 assisted-living suites and 40 nursing-care units.
To complement the charm of the neighborhood the architect, Solomon Cordwell Buenz & Associates, designed the building to be reminiscent of buildings constructed in the early 1900's. A rusticated cast stone base provides an eye level scale and texture. Cast stone Juliet balconies, quoining, parapet panels, and other details articulate the norman brick clad tower and provide a regular scale and rhythm that is further accentuated by the frequent plane changes of the façade. Regular use of soldier courses at window heads, cast stone accent bands, and decorative brick panels provide further scale and character. These details, along with the careful placement of the building, result in an overall impression of a quality masonry building that has been in the neighborhood for years.

ARCHITECT:
N/A
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Mather II project is the sister building to the Mather I project which was Masonry Constructions Online Project of the year in 2009 for both the Hi-Rise and the Readers’ Choice Award. The project also located in Evanston, IL consists of the same design as the Mather I; however the Mather II was completed in just 24 days making this Illinois Masonry’s Highlighted Project of 2011.

The integrated plan involved use of a tower crane and a detailed scaffolding layout resulting in the accelerated completion of the project. The use of the tower crane allowed access in limited areas which turned out to be a brilliant plan by the Illinois Masonry team resulting in record completion date. The project was not only completed ahead of schedule but also with the same efficiently and quality you have come to expect from Illinois Masonry Corp.
